Captain Lakshmi Sahgal passes away


Captain Lakshmi Sehgal, who was part of the Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army lost the battle of life on Monday owing to illness.
Her daughter and CPM leader Subhashini Ali said that Sehgal, 97 years old, breathed her last breath at a private hospital at 11:20am in Kanpur.
Sehgal, who was ill for quite some time, was eventually admitted to a hospital on July 19th after she suffered a heart attack at her residence in Civil Lines area in Kanpur. She was kept on life support system.
She was very active during the Independence movement and had commanded the 'Rani of Jhansi Regiment' of the INA formed by Bose.
Sehgal by profession was working as a medical practitioner and a social worker. She was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1998.
