Gangster Sukhdev Pehelwan, the third accused in the Nitish Katara kidnapping cum murder case, was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi Court. The punishment was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge J R Aryan who on July 6th held him guilty for helping former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav's son Vikas Yadav and nephew Vishal Yadav in abducting and killing Mr. Katara in 2002 for being friends with their sister Bharti Yadav. Sukhdev Pehelwan, who had played a crucial role in the kidnapping and abduction of Mr. Katare could not be located for three years after the crime. Sukhdev, worked for Vikas and Vishal Yadav, whose sister Bharti Yadav was dating Mr. Katara. The two Yadav's were soon spotted after the crime while Sukhdev was missing for three years and was found in 2005 in Indo-Nepal border. The Yadav brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment for Mr. Katara's death in 2008. The court found that these brothers took Mr. Katara from a marriage in Ghaziabad in Delhi. Later he was killed and his body was set on fire by them. Mr. Katara's mother, who was fighting for justice for a long time. At last she got justice for the murder of her son after a long and tough battle. |
