IPS officer crushed to death by mining mafia

A young IPS officer, Narendra Kumar who is 2009 batch pass out, was crushed to death by the illegal mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district.

He was later on posted as a Sub-Divisional police officer in Morena on probation.

According to the reports, Mr. Kumar tried to stop a tractor which was carrying illegal quarried stones,  while on duty Thursday afternoon.

DIG Chambal range was quoted in the press as saying that however, instead of stopping, the driver ran him over.

Mr. Kumar was soon rushed to the hospital but could not save him due to the injuries. His wife is an Indian Administrative Service Officer who was also posted in Madhya Pradesh but was currently on leave.

State Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta was learnt to be on his way to Morena at the time of filing the report.
