The Mumbai police today arrested a senior woman journalist, Jigan Vora, in connection with the murder of senior investigative journalist Jyotirmoy Dey.
Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy said that Jigan Vora, the deputy bureau chief of English Daily Asian Age, has been arrested today as she played a role in the conspiracy which led to the murder of J Dey.
Vora was allegedly in touch with fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan, an accused in the case, and gave him the registration number of Dey's bike along with his office and residence addresses. The crime branch alleges that this information is suspected to be used by the alleged killers to survey and lay the groundwork for the murder.
Vora, who was questioned by the crime branch in connection with the case several times, will be produced before a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOAC) court later in the day.
