Tharoor files defamation suit against Magazine

Trivandrum MP Shashi Tharoor filed a Rs. 10 crore  defamation suit against The Sunday Indian Magazine for publishing an article stating that he has black money which is being stashed away in Swiss Bank accounts.
Tharoor, a former minister of Kerala State for external affairs, has appointed Kochi-based legal firm of Sheriff Associates to represent him. The firm has thereupon sent the defamation notice to the editor in charge and two other officials of the Magazine.
In a press conference Tharoor said that in the article which appeared in the website on November 3, even though the name Tharoor was not used, but it had all indications that the person who was mentioned as having unaccounted money in Swiss bank was none other than Tharoor. It also mentioned that Tharoor used his influence to see that this news does not appear in the media.
The lawyer's notice which was sent to the Magazine says that after the Magazine came out, Tharoor was flooded with enquiries from friends and well-wishers to find out whether there is any truth behind the curtain. This also spoiled his image in the public.
The notice also says that Tharoor has no account in Swiss Bank and all his assets have been declared before the Election Commission and also to the Prime Minister.
The Magaine said that there are three MP's who allegedly has an account in the Swiss Bank and one of them was from Kerala.
