Parliament logjam costs Rs. 12 crore in 4 days

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha has once again been a witness to slogan shouting and ruckus over Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail, price rise and black money issues. The commotion forced the adjournment of both the houses till Monday resulting in a loss of Rs. 12 crore to the nation.
On day 4 of the Parliament's Winter Session several MP's belonging to the BJP party, the Trinamool Congress and the Left Front stormed into the well of the house protesting and shouting slogans against the Cabinet nod to FDI in retail. Both the houseswere adjourned till noon and later on till Monday after the opposition MP's continued their protest.
The BJP has threatened to protest against the cabinet decision both inside and outside the Parliament. The decision has also opposed the congress ally TMC.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that they will continue to protest against the cabinet decision on FDI, both inside and outside the Parliament.
The TMC has inturn demanded a larger debate on the issue and has claimed that small traders and farmers has not been taken into confidence before the taking of cabinet decision.
TMC MP  and Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said that their stand is very clear and there rise a need to have a larger debate on the same issue. Also added that they have spoken to the people who will be benifted out of this, but not to small farmers, traders etc.
The stand by the TMC indicates that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance will face resistance from within the government on the move. However, the Congress was optimistic in nature while saying that all the constituents of UPA were consulted before taking the cabinet decision.
Union Minority Affairs Salman Khurshid said that he didn't get the impression that the allies are against it. It was merely a policy decision and does not want to implement it as they can choose not to. It is a move ahead and the Commerce Minister consulted all.
