Lokpal bill in monsoon session: PM.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh affirmed the commitment of his Government towards a Lokpal Bill that provides for a strong institutional arrangement for the purpose of solving corruption in high places.

He said that, in the monsoon session of the Parliament, the legislation would be brought.

This promise was made by him in his opening remarks at an all party meeting on the Lokpal bill.
The session begins on 1st of August.

Also, he added that, the institutional arrangement for the lokpal should enjoy the support of a largr section of people as possible and this must work in harmony with other institutions and laws.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely and Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) leaders Bausudeb Acharia and Sitaram Yenchury, attended the all-party meeting at Prime Minister's residence.

Also, leader of Janata Dal-United, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, DMK, AIADMK, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Telugu Desam Party took part in the meeting.
