104 pilgrims died in Sabarimala stampede: Regional News

The regional news reports says that about 104 devotees died in Sabarimala stampede. This tragedy of Sabarimala became most worst in a Pilgrim centre like Sabarimala where lakhs of devotees come in every season. The news reports says that there was a high hike in the number of pilgrims a Pulmedu to participate in famous Makaravilakku. According to the media reports 54 of pilgrims died in the tragedy are from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The Government authorities of Kerala state said that the post-mortem and other formalities will be done to the identified bodies. The police officials given a report to news persons as they have identified 50 bodies currently. The Union ministry has announced Rs. 1 lakh each to the very next kin of persons died in the tragedy and fifty thousand for the injured from national relief fund of Prime Minister of India. Indian President Smt. Prathibha Patil, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed their deep anguish in the heart breaking tragedy of Sabarimala.

The pilgrims were were returning after seeing the famous Makarajyothi from the Sabarimala hills. The rescuers said that the disastrous tragedy was occurred near to Pulmedu region of Vandiperiyar while a jeep filled pilgrims rashes into a crowd and it overturned. So many Ayyappa devotees were killed in the spot. Most of the people died were from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The Kerala state Government has declared 3 days mourning in official matter due the tragedy.
