Prashant Pradhan, the main accused of the Pipili gang rape case was arrested by the Odhisa police on Sunday, a day after the photo of the suspect was released.
In the month of November, a 19-year-old girl was raped and strangulated at Pipili in Odhisa.
Since then she is in coma stage. Only after the State Human Rights Commission and High Court entered into scene, the police finally decided to register a case.
Odhisa has been rocked by two other gang rape cases this week. In Bhadrak, a 19-year-old college girl was allegedly raped and killed. And on Wednesday yet another 19-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped at Rajgangpur in Sundergarh district.
With the Panchayat elections in the state, the Opposition is all set to make these gang rape incidents an election issue. But this issue needs more than just intiating a judicial inquiry from the Odhisa Chief Minister to win back the confidence of the people.
