In a complaint with the State's Women's Commission (SWC), an eight year girl told the reporters that she was repeatedly raped by her 13-year-old cousin, with her mother facilitate the act.
The SWC sought the intervention of the Child Right's Commission and child counselors on Saturday.
The girl was brought for counseling at Govindpura police station, where child councilors from Childline, an NGO specifically working for the children, had gone to talk to her at the request of the SWC Chairperson.
It was great shock to the counselors, when the girl re-called how she was repeatedly raped by her maternal uncle's son, aged 13 years.
Archana Sahay of the NGO said that when the girl complained about the incident to her mother, she was told that this was "normal". She added that her mother also threatened her to punish her if she even uttered a word about the incident to anyone else.
Sahay told the reporters that the girl also said that her mother would entertain certain unknown strangers and was herself involved in several immoral conducts.
She said that on Saturday they went for a spot verification with the local police. The NGO would now send the report to the Commission on Monday.
The woman in question had married for 10 years and had come to the city of Bhopal in October with the younger daughter while the elder daughter stayed back with her father.
The girl was subsequently hospitalised for eight days with sexual injuries. Her father had filed an FIR with the Govindpura police. A medical examination was also conducted upon her, which confirmed the same. The boy was arrested and later on released on bail.
