Suresh Kalmadi discharged from AIIMS after undergoing tests for dementia

On Thursday evening sacked Common Wealth Games Organizing Committee Chief Suresh Kalmadi was discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he underwent several tests for memory related disorder dementia besides a number of tests of his vital parameters.
67-year old Kalmadi was admitted to AIIMS for a medical check-up on August 1st. For nearly three months he was lodged in Tihar jail in connection with the multi-core Common Wealth Games scam.
DIG Prisons R N Sharma stated that Suresh Kalmadi was discharged at 5.45pm from the hospital and reched inside the prison premises at around 7pm.
It was also stated by Dr. Y.K. Gupta, a spokesperson and the head of the department of Pharmacology AIIMS, that Kalmadi had undergone cardiac, neuro and endrocrinology testing in the past three days of his stay in the hospital. He also added that the test reports have been sent to the jail authorities.
It was reported by the sources that, inorder to assess a wide range of conditions including the determination of dementia or any brain positron emission tomography (PET) scan of his brain.
The sources again added that, a number of blood chemistry tests was undergone by him so that a clear picture of his ailments could emerge.
Towards the fees for conducting all his tests the jail authorities had to deposit an amount of Rs.12000.
For the purpose of conducting the investigation, a three-member team of doctors including neurologist Dr. M.V. Padma, cardiologist Dr. Rakesh Yadav and Dr. Arthi Vij was formed.
