Govt. targeting me, checking my records in Army: Anna Hazare

Anna Hazare
On Tuesday it was alleged by Ana Hazare that he is being targeted by the Government, by making a claim that his records in the Army is being checked and people were sent to his village in Maharashtra to check on his organization. The 74-years old Gandhian stated that he has not done anything wrong throughout his life time. He was firm on his decision to go on an indefinite fast in Delhi from August 16th for a strong Lokpal Bill to tackle the corruption. At two separate events organized by the Mumbai Press Club and Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, the anti-corruption crusader was talking to the newsmen. The social activist alleged that the intention of the Government is not right and that was why they are trying to defame the civil society spearheading the anti-graft campaign. Hazare hails from Ralegan Sidhi village in Ahmednagar district. He said that they have put people behind him and have sent people to his village to have a check upon his organization. According to him this agitation is not against any individual party. The common man is finding it impossible to live without encountering corruption. The corruption has increased and has led to inflation and price rise and this corruption itself is the root cause of inflation. He added that it may not be possible to completely end up this corruption, but we can curb it atleast 80 to 90 percent.
He again asserted that the Scams like 2G spectrum allocation scam and Suresh Kalmadi's CWG scam were unearthed due to RTI Act. But that Act does not have the power to send culprits to jail. The Jan Lokpal Bill has that power and that was why they have been asking the Government to enact that legislation. According to this Gandhian, he favored strong punishment to deter the corrupt and he is of the opinion that the corrupt should be hanged.
He again added up that there must be a provision to recover the amount involved in corruption and merely sending the guilty person to jail will not be sufficient, but the instead, even the money also should be recovered from the person. According to Hazare, those in the government lack the will to create a corruption-free India and that is the reason why they are insisting to bring the Jan Lokpal. It should be given autonomy and it must be free from any Government control. He declared that the government says it does not want such a strict legislation because the government is run on the basis of corruption and there is a nexus between people's representatives and the staffs involved in the corruption.
Hazare confirmed that their demand is to bring all the officers under Lokpal and the Lokpal should probe corruption complaints. He again made it clear that they are not seeking beyond the constitution and their intention is not to run a parallel government.
