On Sunday, Anna Hazare's supporters burned the copies of the government proposed Lokpal bill at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, saying that from August 16th the Gandhian was determined to go on his indefinite fast to press for the clearance of the civil society's version of the legislation. The social activist Arvind Kejriwal said that, Government's Lokpal is dangerous as virtually covers nobody. Besides 1.25 crores government 'babus', the Prime Minister, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and even the Chief Ministers do not fall under the ambit of the Lokpal bill. It is farce; Anna Hazare will certainly go on fast. He clearly stated that the denial of permission from the Delhi police will not deter the activists and Ana from going ahead with his proposed fast and protest against the official version of the bill which is an insult to the Parliament. According to Kapil Sibal, burning of copies of the bill is an insult of the Parliament. Also the Delhi Police clearly pointed out that burning paper (Bill) is a violation of the Environment Protection Act. Kejriwal said that bringing such a sham bill in the Parliament s it insult not the burning. The permission to hold his indefinite fast and protest at Jantar Mantar on the ground that prohibitory order under section 144 of the CrPC is in force in the area has been denied by Anna. Kejriwal said that BJP-run MCD has granted permission to hold the protest at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi but the sanction from police was still awaited. Other activists besides Kejriwal, also took part in the protest at Jantar Mantar and burnt the copies of the bill and later they proceeded to the India Gate. It was also stated by Kejriwal that at the site of protest in which Anna Hazare did not take part, if the government denies permission, activist would court arrest and protest in jail. He also added that, prominent citizens, including judges, Bollywood superstar Amir Khan, have pledged their support to the movement.
