Married woman raped twice in Odisha


Amid a statewide chaos over alleged rape a Dalit young girl in Pipli in Puri District. The police said that another shocking incident has took place where a married woman was gangraped allegedly by three men at Chandikhole in Jaipur District.

The 35-year-old woman from Jagatsinghpur District had gone to Cuttack for court work yesterday. She came to Chandikhole as per the advice of a relative who had promised her money there.

When her relative did not turn up for a long time, she approached a truck driver to take her to Balichandrapur. The driver agreed and drove er away to a place called Aruha and raped her before dropping her off near Chhatia bazaar on National Highway no. 5 late last night.

The suffering of the woman did not end their as two other middle aged motorcyclists who were passing by took her on their bike on the pretext of taking her to Cuttack. They also allegedly gangraped her and threw her at Nelia on the NH 5 where the night patrolling police party spotted her.

Subsequently she was admitted to a hospital. She told the doctors about the rape, but couldn't identify the culprits as she was new to the place.

Deepak Kumar, Superintendent of Police said that they have recorded the statement of the victim and a case has been regsitered at the Barachana police station. They have arrested one of the accused and are searching for two others.

He said that the medical examination of both the accused and the victim was conducted. The accused was forwarded to court today and later on remanded to judicial custody after his bail application was rejected.
