Indian-American woman gets 4 year probation in fraud case

An Indian-American woman with close ties to disgraced former illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been sentenced to four years probation and ordered to pay USD 2,00,000 as fine and restitution after she pleaded guilty to billing the state for drug tests which her firm never performed.
The accused is Anita Mahajan, 60 years, a former state contractor and wife of Amrish Mahajan who was a major fundraiser for Blagojevich.  As per the reports she apologised when she stood before Judge James Obbish and pleaded guilty to a reduced amount of theft of USD 99,990.
As per the reports, she was fully broken and her eyes were filled with tear drops when she heard her sentence being read out in the court and apologised before the court.
She also agreed to pay USD 2,00,000 – USD 1,25,000 as restitution, USD 43,000 as fines and USD 32,000 in state's attorney's office.  She was also asked to perform 1,500 hours of community service as part of her plea agreement.
